Auryn Nominated For Best Education And Reference Mobile App ...

Los Angeles, California ? Auryn, Inc., premiere digital publisher focused on creating award-winning interactive children?s stories for the iPad and other tablet devices, announced today that it has been nominated for the one of the most sought-after industry awards, the Webby Awards. Auryn?s digital iPad adaptation of the award-winning book by Laurence Anholt, Van Gogh and the Sunflowers is nominated for a Best Education & Reference Mobile App award in the 16th Annual Webby Awards.

Hailed as the ?Internet?s highest honor? by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. The IADAS, which nominates and selects The Webby Award winners, is comprised of web industry experts, including media mogul Arianna Huffington, Skype CEO Tony Bates, SHFT.com co-founder Adrian Grenier, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom, mobile-phone inventor Martin Cooper, and Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio, creators of the Webby Award-winning game app Angry Birds.

Van Gogh and the Sunflowers is an Auryn platform app that?s rich in watercolor illustrations and revolutionary in digital storytelling. The app is designed to appeal to both the right and left side of a child?s brain. On one hand it invites children to understand the magic behind motion created by gear-driven mechanics, and on the other, it lets children make the moving character their own by allowing them color with various tools.

Auryn?s apps are based on their patented technology and two technology platforms ? Auryn and Auracle. Van Gogh and the Sunflowers, for ages four to 11 but also for any van Gogh fan, is the newest title on the popular Auryn platform and fans of Auryn?s bestselling Auryn Ink app will recognize the superior watercolor animation.

?Nominees like Auryn are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,? said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. ?It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 10,000 entries we received this year.?

?We knew we had a winner with Van Gogh and the Sunflowers as it is a wonderfully entertaining story that combines education, challenging games and fun with colors,? said Umesh Shukla, CCO of Auryn. ?Children can learn about van Gogh in a fun, colorful and interactive way. It?s a shining example of Auryn?s commitment to create children?s story apps that establish benchmarks in digital publishing, and we are thrilled the Webby?s are recognizing us and the story.?

As a nominee, Auryn is also eligible for The Webby Awards? ?People?s Voice Award?, which is voted for online by fans across the globe. From now until Friday, April 27, 2012, Auryn and Van Gogh and the Sunflowers fans are encouraged to cast their votes at Webby Awards.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 and honored at a star-studded ceremony on Monday, May 21, 2012 at The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, where they will have an opportunity to deliver one of The Webby Awards? famous 5-Word Speeches.
